What's the meaning of loose?

Loose - not rigidly fastened or securely attached

Lose -
to suffer deprivation of or part with especially in an unforeseen or accidental manner

Now I don't know why people cannot understand the simple distinction between the above words. They are entirely different though they might have similar pronunciations. I notice that people blindly use the word 'loose' without realizing that they actually meant 'lose'.

Talking to a friend of mine, I realized that there were a lot of other things that people were commonly confused about. The most glaring example was 'there' & 'their'. Do I even need to explain the difference?

A frustration i commonly encounter myself with people bungling up both the words.. feel like settin it straight once for all each time.

Thanks.. at least someone shares the same emotions. Though coming to think of it, it would seem that we being finicky and it is perfectly fine since the only use of language is to communicate and nothing else. But yes, whatever it might be, I do find it irritating at times.

It's about perfection in whatever you do,for else the world would be a chaos if everything is "fine".

Yes, that is true. It's about perfection. Though we must bear in mind that we ourselves are not perfect. :-)

And precisely that's why we should strive to be so, constantly...though the written exchange among us is getting stretched now :)

And I guess it's the first time you find a guest arguing in favour of the blog content while the author himself isn't quite for it! Strange...

:D

That is true. I obviously stand by my post but on second thoughts I did realise that I was being a little too harsh in posting this. Quite a few people did not like this post though they did agree with me in principle. And it is their sentiments I am echoing as they did not choose to comment here.
